The message behind the video

This video will consist of a montage of images, art works and video clips of beautiful places and experiences available in today's world. We need to remind ourselves of what the world really has to offer us in terms of nature, people and wonders. In today's society it seems like media and commercial goods take up most our energy. People talk more about the material things they have than the dreams and philosophies they wish to uncover. Where are we now? Where are we putting our energy, and why? What are we looking for..... Truly?

This video is going to be a visually powerful one. Accompanied by Joni Mitchell's "Woodstock", the montage will hopefully inspire the spectator to rethink about his way of life. How much room do we give to spiritual, enlightening experiences? Part of the video will be interrupted by familiar images such as those found in popular commerc
ials and publicity. Many car commercials, beauty products and fast food advertisements try to use spiritual themes such as freedom to entice us to buy their product. Are they the right source of energy for us? This 2 minute video will prove that they aren't. We create the world, lets make the most of it!

Video details

The Video Shooting:
Will take place at different times and places depending on the weather and the inspiration!

I already have a collection of pictures from some of my trips which I will include at different times throughout the video (pic to left was taken in Vancouver Island after a 14 hour hike during a 3 week backpacking adventure).

During the first week of November I will do a few shootings: One will occur by the river in the West end of Ottawa. I will film a friend in meditation. She will not be moving, but the water will be flowing, creating a peaceful ambiance. This shot will be about 25 seconds long. The second will take place during the first snow fall. I will film a tree being touched by snow flakes. If the weather doesn't allow it I'll film it during a very windy day.

I am going to use old as well as new footage. I have great material to work with. The video wont be a story per-se, but a flow of images that will provoke ideas.

For intresting visual effects I will be filming quick shots of:

* Eyes looking into the sun (close up)

*Hands in prayer position (on an angle where you can see mostly one hand -It wont be centered)

*Lips opening

*Feet (flimed in close up as the model gets up to run, you will see the bottom of her foot. A 2-4 second shot)

*A shot of all the elements (fire, water, air and earth) that will be rapidly changing from one to another during the film

All of the above will be short scenes that will be edited into one another during the climax of the film. It is at that moment (1 min 30) that the music will be replaced or distorted by unplesant sounds (like white sound from a TV) . The sounds will accompany the "shocking" images of familiar logos and advertisements.

The ending will be a re-cap of some of the nice images seen in the first part of the video. The last scene will be of a girl in meditation, under a tree, that reaches illumination when something falls on her head.....

Art and Images

Art works will be seen throughout the video. A shot of someone painting their perception of energy will be cut into segments during the 2 minute film. That way, the spectator sees the progress of the painting without having to watch it completly from starting to end. So whole painting scene will be filmed for 2 minutes (that's how long the artist has for expressing "Energy") but only significant parts of it will be shown. Near the climax when the publicity part takes place, the art work will be smotherd in heavy paint to symbolize the destruction of creative spirit.
Now, in my filming process, the destruction of the painting will only be filmed once the painting is done. But the spectator will see its destruction before its final product. At the very end of the video, the painting will be exposed as it should: finished.

GET REAL!!!!

People need to understand how much room advertisements and media have on our daily lives and way of thinking. Most of what we see on billboards and on T.V is a bunch of bull. Lets put an end to the publicity phase and move on with real life. Check out these links for inspiration:
